Complete list of Programs/Services Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Director, Tom Davidson, is pictured with eighth grade basketball champions. CYO is the largest athletic program for youth in Southern California. Catholic Charities of Los Angeles has the largest immigration and refugee resettlement department in the United States. Last year, the Immigration Department mobilized the ethnic media to dedicate 32 television programs, 63 radio talk shows and 33 newspaper articles to educate refugees about the changing welfare and immigration laws. Catholic Charities’ Immigration Department assists legal immigrants with applications for U.S. Visas, Green Cards, Requests for Voluntary Departure, representation at INS hearings, and U.S. Citizenship (Naturalization). The Immigration Department sees over 3,000 new clients each year. Last year, the Central Intake Unit provided case management for over 10,000 refugees in Los Angeles County who were seeking assistance with skills assessment, education, and job referrals. The Central Intake Unit also helps move refugees from public assistance to full-time employment. Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement program provides pre-arrival processing, case management and employment services for refugees. Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) works in cooperation with 170 parochial elementary schools in Los Angeles County to allow 15,000 youth to participate in organized sports activities.
