A hand-painted mural decorates the wall of the Brownson House Community Center in East Los Angeles. The center helps families in the area by providing low cost before and after school care, including folklorico classes.
The San Gabriel Region of Catholic Charities helps people to achieve self-sufficiency through case management, job placement, skills assessment and psychological counseling.

At the El Monte Multi-Services Center, Catholic Charities works in collaboration with other agencies to bring those in need a number of services in one building. Catholic Charities focuses on case management services including job development and placement.

• The El Monte Community Center provides vulnerable individuals and families with safety net services such as food, clothing, temporary shelter, assistance with public benefits applications, winter energy assistance and comprehensive case management.

• Brother Miguel Center, located in Pomona, provides emergency basic needs assistance. Many of the clients who come to the Center for help spend 75% or more of their incomes on rent, leaving them one unexpected bill or crisis away from Losing their housing.

Individuals at a Catholic Charities’ food pantry in East Los Angeles receive ingredients for family meals.

Case management services at Brownson House provide those who are in need of tools to help them gain independence. Well over 5,000 clients were assisted at Brownson House during the 1999-2000 fiscal year.

Individuals can receive clothing at the El Monte Community Center.
