Santa Barbara County
The Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Santa Maria Community Service Centers offer clients: financial support at times when there is not enough money for rent or utilities; food to supplement meager grocery budgets; and case management services. Collectively, these three community centers brightened the lives of 15,551 individuals in the 1999-2000 fiscal year.
Two new offices will open their doors in Santa Barbara County in the coming year. Guadalupe Community Services, in Guadalupe, and Cuyama Valley Community Services, in New Cuyama, will provide services to geographically isolated and under-served communities.

- Ventura County
Last year, 4,200 low-income persons received a wide range of practical in-kind, financial and case management services at the Moorpark Community Center.
At the Oxnard Community Center, 42 households were assisted in avoiding eviction from their homes or moving into permanent housing after being in a homeless situation, and 291 persons were helped with transportation to work, job interviews, medical or other necessary appointments in the last year. The center served 8,106 individuals last year.
The OASIS program provides in-home services to the frail elderly of Ventura County to prevent unnecessary or premature institutionalization using case management, in-home support services, monitoring and phone reassurance.

The rate of growth for the elderly population in Ventura County will nearly double itself by 2010. It is also estimated that at least 10% of seniors 65 years or older will be below poverty level.
