The San Fernando Regional Director, Moeed Kahn and one of the staff at Loaves and Fishes prepare to feed those in need.

The ADESTE before and after school child care program nurtures young minds and makes it possible for their parents to maintain full-time employment.
• Participation in the Van Nuys and Glendale Loaves and Fishes programs more than tripled from the previous year. 67,215 people received food, clothing, employment assistance and case management services. The Region is also pleased to announce the opening of its new Loaves and Fishes Thrift Store in Glendale.

• Guadalupe Center in Canoga Park has finished Phase I of a capital improvement project which includes renovation of its main building and youth center as well as construction of a sports and recreation complex and a family services building. Last year the center assisted 11,174 individuals and families.

• Lancaster Shelter provided emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management, basic skills classes and job referrals to 921 people.

• Rancho San Antonio is a residential treatment center for troubled boys ages 13 to 17 who are referred to the program from the Juvenile Court System. The program offers these young men a cohesive, supportive environment, a second chance and a more promising future.

• In its commitment to the health and well being of its clients, Catholic Charities’ Psychological Services in the San Fernando Region currently reaches out to 390 low-income individuals who are faced with severe crises in their lives providing them with much needed strength and hope.

At the Glendale Community Center, youth from the area can meet for recreation.

A participant in San Fernando Region’s Day Laborer Program is offering his services to a potential employer. The program provides a center where 300 enrollees are able to negotiate the terms of their service on a day-to-day basis.
