One of the largest Immigration and Refugee Services programs in the United States is operated by Catholic Charities of Los Angeles. The programs provide advocacy to individuals and families to legalize their residency status and help newly arrived refugees and immigrants, resettled in the Los Angeles area, adjust to their new home and achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Central Intake Unit (CIU) offers services that enable refugees to move off of welfare through the Refugee Employment Training Program (REP) and the Refugee/Immigrant Training and Employment Program (RITE).
The Older Adult Services and Intervention System (OASIS) enables elderly adults, 60 years and older, to remain in their own homes and avoid premature or unnecessary institutionalization.
Catholic Psychological Services, founded in 1937, makes affordable professional counseling available in English and Spanish for individuals and families.

OASIS case managers assess older adults’ capacity to maintain self-sufficiency, and recommend services to maximize the seniors’ independence.

“Before giving up completely, I decided to make a ‘last ditch’ effort and contacted your organization for advice and assistance. And a ray of light entitled me to reach out to you for I knew in advance you would help me.”
