Emergency Shelter & Transitional Residences


Three emergency shelters provide housing for parents and their children, assisting family stability.

Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women

• Languille Emergency Shelter– The Languille Shelter serves homeless, single adult women. The goal is to meet the basic emergency needs of homeless women for food, clothing and shelter.

• Hawkes Transitional Residence – The Hawkes Residence consists of transitional housing for 30 homeless women in a residential, “home-like” setting. The goals of the Hawkes Residence are to provide services that assist homeless women in obtaining the employment and life skills necessary for them to move from transitional housing to stable, long-term housing, and to increase skills that promote greater self sufficiency.

• Mother and Child Residence – The objective of the Mother and Child transitional residence is to meet the basic needs of homeless mothers and children for food, clothing and shelter. In addition, the residence offers psychosocial services, a wellness program, vocational training, tutoring, employment counseling, parenting classes, and budget training on-site.

Elizabeth Ann Seton Residence
Elizabeth Ann Seton Residence, in Long Beach, provides a safe place for families in crisis to stabilize themselves, find support and guidance, and access resources to help them return to independent living. This emergency shelter is unique because it is able to house family members together in their own quarters for up to 30 days.


Angel’s Flight provides shelter, food, and other case management services.

Lancaster Community Shelter
In the last five years, the Lancaster Community Shelter has assisted over 2,500 individuals and families. The shelter guides homeless clients in discovering the reason for their homelessness and in planning a path from poverty and indigence to self-sufficiency. A case manager provides clients with information, referrals and workshops on communication skills, job seeking and conflict management.

Angel’s Flight Runaway and Homeless Youth Services
The Angel’s Flight emergency shelter is a safe haven for runaway youth ages 10 through 17 years old. The shelter provides up to 90 days of emergency shelter for up to 16 runaway and homeless youth.

Individuals who reside at agency shelters and transitional residences may receive vocational training and communication skills training as part of their case management plan.
