Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services (AYE) The Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services program annually provides nearly 2,000 young adults with job training through an extensive network of employers and community organizations. AYE makes available an array of services to participants, including vocational evaluation, occupational skills training, support and follow-up. Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) The Catholic Youth Organization is one of the largest privately funded after-school athletics programs for elementary and junior high schools in the country. Approximately 18,000 boys and girls participated in the program during 2001-2002. Currently, CYO coordinates inter-scholastic athletic programs for 171 Catholic elementary and junior high schools. Angels Flight Runaway and Homeless Youth Services Since 1982, Angels Flight has sought to protect runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth from the dangers of living on the streets. The program assists in finding a stable living situation for the boys and girls via family reunification, if it is in the best interest of the youngsters, or finding alternative placements. MY CLUB - The MY CLUB (Modeling for Youth Cooperation, Leadership, Unity and Bridges) Program in the South Central Los Angeles area operates as a drop-in center for runaway and homeless adolescents to provide counseling, case management, life skills training, recreation, education services, meals and other support.
After School Tutoring The tutoring program is designed for children between the ages of 6 to 16 years. The program operates 5 days a week from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The classes concentrate on developing and enhancing computer skills. Teachers also help children with their homework, and provide one-to-one and group tutoring. School Readiness - The program is designed for children ages 3 to 5 years. The objectives are to teach language/speech development skills, reading readiness, pre-school computer educational activities, social skills, arts and crafts, and fine gross motor skill development. Rancho San Antonio This widely respected Boys Town of the West program provides a residential facility for delinquent boys, ages 13 through 17 years, who are referred by the Courts. The boys develop pro-social values and learn the skills needed for independent living. |
