| Children in the ADESTE program participate in activities that address social, physical, mental and developmental needs. Youth are expected to show a positive change in their ability to handle group situations, problem solve and interact with peers. |

The Archdiocese Elementary School Time Enrichment (ADESTE) program provides quality, safe and affordable before-and-after-school care for children of working parents in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
Children in the ADESTE program participate in homework/quiet time to provide a structured learning environment, supervised indoor/outdoor activities to ensure their safety, and arts and crafts activities to enhance their creativity.
Approximately 1,100 children, ages 4 years 9 months to 13 years of age, were served on a daily basis in the 2002-2003 fiscal year.
All activities are supervised in accordance with a ratio of one teacher to no more than 14 children.
Fees for two children in day care can use up an entire months income of a full time employee earning minimum wage ($996). Over 60% of participants in the ADESTE program live in households where the primary wage earner(s) make less than $1,400 per month..

Boys and girls from different backgrounds and economic circumstances benefit from the ADESTE program. A goal of the program is to increase access to affordable before-and-after-school child care for low- and mid-income families.

ADESTE offers organized activities in a safe environment. Out of 31 sites, 22 are licensed child care facilities.

The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program coordinates interscholastic athletic programs for 160 Catholic parochial elementary schools in Los Angeles County. CYO activities provide a wholesome outlet for a youths physical energy while strengthening a students spiritual and social values.
CYO is one of the largest privately funded athletics programs for elementary schools in the country.
Through participation in the CYO program, children learn at an early age the benefit of working cooperatively as a team. The program emphasizes the importance of self-discipline, sportsmanship, team spirit, respect and responsibility.
Programs are offered in Flag Football (Boys & Girls), Volleyball (Boys & Girls), Basketball (Boys & Girls), Track (Boys & Girls), Girls Softball, and Girls Cheerleading and Songleading Competition.
During the school year, nearly 400 scheduled athletic events take place each week throughout Los Angeles County, under the supervision of nearly 1,500 volunteer certified coaches, officials, scorekeepers and site supervisors.

Youth participants learn the basics of sportsmanship and teamwork. Through the CYO program, boys and girls will demonstrate an increased knowledge of and ability to engage in sportsmanlike conduct.

Catholic Youth Activities helps youth develop self-esteem, discipline, and athletic ability. Certified coaches strive to inspire athletes to reach for their best both athletically and academically.
