Edward Nelson, Ph.D. : Helping Children Cope With Disaster And Fears: A Guide for Parents, Teachers, and Other Caring Adults

Catholic Counseling Services developed a guide to help caring adults deal with children's reactions to disasters and other terrifying experiences. The guide is offered online in both English and Spanish.

Disasters are upsetting for everyone, especially children. Although individuals of all ages share many feelings and reactions in common to such events, special attention is required to meet the needs of children. Children do not view events in the same way as adults, and adult reactions and media presentations in regard to disasters can be very disturbing and frightening to them.
