Ninth Annual Golf Tournament, June 27, 2005
We are pleased to announce the Ninth Annual Catholic Charities' Golf Tournament, to be held on June 27, 2005 at a private golf club in the Los Angeles area. The tournament will benefit 28 community centers that Catholic Charities operates in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Each year, the centers serve approximately 170,000 different people living in extreme poverty; over 90% of our clients earn less than $13,000 per year.
The community centers are located in: Carpinteria, Canoga Park, El Monte, Glendale, Guadalupe, Inglewood, Lompoc, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Moorpark, Oxnard, Pico Rivera, Pomona, San Fernando, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Thousand Oaks, Van Nuys, Venice, Ventura, West Covina, and Wilmington.
Catholic Charities' community centers offer:
- Rent and utilities assistance, motel vouchers
and other homelessness prevention programs;
- Monthly or bi-weekly gifts of groceries, such as bread, canned food, fresh milk, produce, etc.;
- Clothing and second-hand household goods;
- Affordable before-and-after-school childcare programs;
- Tutoring and enrichment classes for children;
- Classes in life skills, computer literacy, parenting, and English as a Second Language;
- Training and placement for employment; and
- Special holiday activities for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
