Ventura Back to School Event

Catholic Charities has been providing services in Ventura County since 1926.

Partnering with other public and private agencies in the area, we work to meet the social service needs of our most poor and vulnerable neighbors. The most prominent services throughout the county include basic needs assistance through programs that help prevent homelessness by subsidizing rental and utilities’ payments.

Donations from the community provide a continual supply of food and other essential life items, including clothing and hygiene products. Programs also perform outreach to the elderly and offer two licensed after-school programs for children.

You Can Help

The Ventura Region is always in need of the following items.

Hygiene and health products:

Diapers-baby/adult;
Toothbrushs and toothpaste;
Soap; and
First aid supplies such as band aids, ointment, and gauze.

Gently used items for warmth and protection:

Sleeping bags;
Flashlights/batteries;
Jackets/Coats for men, women, and children;
Shoes/boots for men, women, and children; and
Jeans for men, women, and children.

Non-perishable food:

Basic canned meats-pull tops preferred;
Canned vegetables-pull tops preferred;
Canned meals, such as spaghetti and stew-pull tops preferred;
Canned or packaged fruits;
Peanut Butter; and
Packaged formula and adult supplements (powdered).

The Ventura Region is also appreciative of donations given in the form of volunteer time. Many opportunities exist for persons of all backgrounds to work in direct service to those who are homeless, elderly, hungry, and hurting. Volunteers are also needed for administrative operations such as answering phones, providing basic data entry, or driving to pick up donated items.
